Exercise: Feel the Awareness
Step 1: Recognize That You Are Aware
You can close your eyes.
No need to change the breath.
No need to visualise anything.
Just be aware that you’re aware.
There are thoughts, sensations, sounds.
You are the one who knows they are happening.
You’re not trying to stop anything.
You’re just here, as the one who knows.
Thoughts and feelings come and go.
You are the constant that remains.
Step 2: Let Everything Appear and Be Known
A thought comes. Maybe it’s something like: “This is pointless.”
That’s okay. Just notice it. Let it come and go.
If you automatically reacted, you would become trapped in the chain of thoughts.
But when you simply observe without reacting, you give yourself the chance to discover the infinite space between them.
Another thought says, “You’re not doing this right.”
Fine. No need to react, just watch.
It’s all just about cultivating the position of an objective observer who doesn’t feel the urge to engage.
Be aware of whatever is happening in your body.
If you notice tension, relax — but do it with awareness, gently and deliberately, not on autopilot.
You’re not your thoughts.
You’re the knowing in which the thoughts appear and disappear.
This knowing is always still.
Even when what appears inside it wildly moves and screams.
Step 3: Rest as That
Keep noticing whatever is happening.
If your mind is constantly talking, judging, analyzing — that’s okay.
Just be aware of it.
Notice the inner voice, but don’t get lost in it.
You can’t be the voice if you’re the one observing it.
What you are is deeper.
Much deeper.
Beyond the noise, beyond the story —
there’s a presence that simply sees.
That’s you. You are this open, clear awareness.
You don’t need to stop anything.
You don’t need to try to empty your mind.
Everything is welcome.
You are the space in which it all unfolds. Let unfold anything that needs to unfold.
Stay there. Just a little longer.
Even one second is enough to remember:
You’ve always been this.
This isn’t about achieving peace.
It’s about realizing that peace is already here.
Right now, it may show up as brief sparks — fleeting moments of stillness.
But as your mind grows steadier, those sparks begin to connect.
And eventually, peace becomes your default state.
